Cappadocia is a region in central Türkiye known for its otherworldly landscapes and ancient rock formations. It’s also famous for hot-air ballon rides where visitors can admire the chimney-shaped rocks and expansive valleys from above. Cappadocia also offers a distinctive accommodation option: cave hotels and hostels. Cave hotels allow visitors to stay in rooms carved into the very rocks that Cappadocia is famous for. For many, staying in a cave hostel in Cappadocia is the highlight of their visit, offering an unforgettable and atmospheric experience. Here’s my list of cave hotels in Cappadocia, all located in the town of Göreme, Turkey, in the heart of the Cappadocia region.

Staying in a cave hostel in Cappadocia is an immersive experience that connects you to the region’s rich history and natural surroundings. Many of the cave hotels and hostels were once ancient dwellings or monasteries, but have now been updated and modernized to become contemporary and charming places to stay.  Not to mention the cool, stone interiors offer an escape from the summer heat! 

This post about cave hostels in Cappadocia is one that I wished was written before my trip to Turkey! Although plenty of information exists on cave hotels, there’s not much about cave hostels in Cappadocia. For visitors to Turkey solo backpacking and wanting to meet other travelers, traveling on a budget, or plainly interested in staying in a larger dorm room while visiting Cappadocia, this post is for you! 

These cave hostels in Cappadocia can all be found in the city of Göreme, or Goreme, in Turkey, which is where the famous Cappadocia hot air balloons lift off at sunrise, as well as the main bus station in the region.

1. Seven Rock Cave

Seven Rock Cave is a Cappadocia cave hotel located on the south side of Goreme, putting it close to many of the hiking trails (and horse trails) where visitors can explore the rock formations and stunning valleys of Cappadocia. 

For visitors looking for a cave hostel in Cappadocia, Seven Rock Cave offers a dorm room option on Hostelworld. The 9-bedroom dorm room is located in a cave-style room, complete with carved stone pillars and an en-suite bathroom. 

In addition to the cave dorm room, this cave hostel offers a picturesque outdoor pool and spacious, shaded lounging areas with traditional Turkish cushions and rugs.

2. Homestay Cave Hostel

Homestay Cave Hostel is a top-rated cave hostel in Cappadocia. This hostel offers dorm-style accommodation in a cave setting, in addition to a number of private cave rooms. The dorm beds are complete with curtains, shelving, and private lighting though, so you won’t be roughing it here. 

A full kitchen, garden, and terrace are available here for guests to use. The terrace looks up to the interesting Cappadocia mountains and rock formations that the region is famous for.

3. Cappadocia Cave Rooms

Cappadocia Cave Rooms is a beautiful Cappadocia cave hotel located in the hills of Goreme. This hotel offers traditional cave rooms for their guests that open up to an inner courtyard. For hostel-goers, a 4-bedroom female dorm room is available here (although not in the cave format). If you’re traveling with a bigger group or have made backpacking friends along the way, you won’t want to miss the 6-person cave suite, complete with a seating area and bookshelves carved into the cave walls! 

The highlight of this Cappadocia cave hostel is its rooftop terrace, which is complete with a wrap-around seating area and a rooftop pool. It’s the perfect place to catch a view of the sunrise hot-air balloons and admire the views of the surrounding valley.

4. Kamelya Cave Hostel

Kamelya Cave Hostel is a great option for budget-friendly cave accommodation in Goreme, Cappadocia. This cave hostel offers a 16-bed dorm option in a cave, as well as a 4-bedroom option for female guests. Other private rooms here also include cave hotel options. Breakfast is included with the price, and lockers are available for personal belongings. 

On-site at Kamelya Cave Hostel is a rooftop restaurant plus terrace. Airport transfers and tours around Cappadocia can also be arranged at this cave hostel in Goreme.

5. Turan Cappadocia Cave

Turan Cappadocia Cave is a cave hotel and hostel in Goreme, Turkey. It offers a number of cave rooms, as well as a female dorm room that fits up to five guests (unfortunately not cave-style).

The best part of this hotel is the outdoor terrace space, which overlooks the Goreme valley and is a perfect place to spot hot-air balloons at sunrise. Many of the rooms at Turan Cappadocia Cave open up to this terrace, making it a wonderful private space for guests to enjoy.

6. Diadem Cappadocia Cave House & Hostel

Diadem Cappadocia Guest House & Hotel is a centrally-located and top-rated hostel in Cappadocia with cave dorm rooms. Both the 10-bed mixed dorm room and 8-bed female dorm room here are located in a cave-style room. 

Highlights at this cave hostel in Cappadocia include tour and transport bookings, friendly staff, and an outdoor lounge area. During peak periods of the year, a two-night stay is required, but that’s a perfect amount of time to ensure you can enjoy at least one amazing Cappadocia sunrise!
