After a day of exploring Osaka’s neon streets and vibrant food markets, nothing feels better than soaking in a soothing onsen or sento (Japanese public bath). While Osaka isn’t known for its natural hot springs like other parts of Japan, many Osaka hotels offer public onsens for their guests, providing the perfect way to relax and recharge.
Whether you’re looking for a sleek, modern onsen spa with city views or a traditional Japanese bathhouse experience, this post covers the best Osaka hotels with onsen, perfect for unwinding after a long day of sightseeing.
I’ve provided information, where available, on whether these Osaka hotels with onsen are tattoo-friendly or not. Because rules may change, be sure to confirm the most up-to-date information before visiting.

1. Dormy Inn Osaka Tanimachi
Let’s start with the basics for Osaka hotels with onsen. No list of onsen hotels is complete without mentioning Dormy Inn, a popular Japanese hotel chain that is known for providing onsen facilities. The most basic Dormy Inns are essentially business hotels that cater to solo Japanese business travelers. However, the inclusion of beautifully maintained and often spacious onsens enhances the overall hotel experience.
Dormy Inn Osaka Tanimachi is a budget-friendly onsen hotel option for travelers in Osaka who love onsen. The rooms here are basic but don’t compromise on comfort with free toiletries, slippers, and pajama rentals. The hotel also offers laundry facilities, a lounge and cafe space, free night-time ramen, and even a small library with manga comic books.
Various different onsens are available here for guests to enjoy on the top floor of the hotel, including a large indoor onsen, a smaller outdoor (open-air) bath plus a ceramic pot onsen, a sauna with a TV, and a cold water bath. The onsen uses natural hot spring waters brought in from Mt. Ikoma area between Osaka and Nara. Small tattoos which can be covered are allowed in the onsen area.

In fact, this hotel is located above one of the most famous onsen destinations in Osaka city – the Solaniwa Onsen hot springs theme park. It also offers a dry sauna, bedrock sauna, garden footbath, lounge areas, food court, and spa.
Solaniwa Onsen also allows tattoos if they can be covered by the stickers sold on-site. Read more about the sticker sizes available on their official website here.
Guests staying at Art Hotel Osaka receive a discount for Solaniwa Onsen entrance tickets, as well as exclusive access to the onsen bath during the morning hours between 6:00 am to 9:00 am. Solaniwa Onsen is open to the public between 11:00 am and 11:00 pm.
Art Hotel Osaka Bay the Tower offers spacious guest rooms including “sky rooms” which are located on floors 46-50 and have incredible views of the city. Family rooms, complete with bunk beds and a children’s play area, are also available here, making it a perfect Osaka hotel with onsen for families.

15. APA Hotel & Resort, Namba and Umeda
Next on this list of Osaka hotels with onsen is the APA Hotel & Resort. Before you run away because of the bad rap that APA hotels get, let me clarify that these are APA Hotel & Resort stays. Regular APA hotels are often small and depressing business hotels that cater to budget, solo business travelers in Japan – I’d steer clear of these.
The APA Hotel & Resort locations in Osaka however, offer significantly better experiences, including larger rooms, upgraded facilities and spacious public baths. They’re also conveniently located by the two largest train stations in Osaka: Osaka Namba and Osaka Umeda.
